By JEFFREY GOLIARTON November 26, 2018 07:02:31 A new beer cart is being introduced in downtown Vancouver, the first in Canada.
Mango carts are the new, cheap and ubiquitous street food.
They’re a little like the cheap but tasty burger trucks, except instead of hamburgers and fries, they’re full of mango slices.
The new beer carts are a new idea, said Mike Pugh, who is overseeing the new business and owns the first one on East Hastings Street.
“It’s not necessarily the same as the food trucks that you’ve seen in other cities,” he said.
“They’re actually a more convenient alternative to a restaurant.”
Pugh says he’s hoping the beer carts will help downtown Vancouver draw in a new audience.
He said there are about 300 businesses in the downtown core that sell beer, and they’re all trying to make ends meet.
“We’re seeing more and more restaurants that are starting to take advantage of the opportunity that the beer cart offers,” he explained.
“I think it’s going to help in attracting people in.”
Pawning off the first beer cart, Pugh said it will be in place until December.
